Illustration of one of the members, Punip cruises, who continues to draw pictures of ships based in Yokohama. It is an image that Kasato Maru, who sailed to Brazil with 781 Japanese in 1908, returned to Minatomirai after 110 years.

Background of the project: Yokohama was the starting point for many Japanese to move to South America, centered on Brazil, on immigrant ships such as the Zenchina Maru and Santos Maru, which are with Kobe. There is a strong connection with. From the current Sakuragicho station to Osanbashi, there are nearly 20 "immigrant inns" where migrants and returnees stay at the peak, and some of the migrants feel that Yokohama is their second home. Not a few.

Against this background, in November 2015, Yokohama City signed a memorandum of understanding for intercity cooperation with Santos City, one of the terminal ports of immigrant vessels and the largest port city in Brazil. In addition, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has consistently been responsible for the migration projects recommended by the postwar government, such as setting up an overseas migration center in Negishi, Yokohama and sending migrants from Yokohama Port. Now that the migration project is over, we have set up a migration museum in Minato Mirai's JICA Yokohama to widely convey the history of migration, the appearance of immigrants, and the state of Japanese-Americans overseas today.

What does a business do? : 2018 marks the 110th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil, so to celebrate this memorable year in Yokohama, we love Brazil, respect Nikkei, love samba, a distant and near country. Citizens of various motives (not only Yokohama), such as wanting to get along with Brazil, will gather to hold a commemorative event on Sunday, November 11th.

Let's work together to create a lively and fun commemorative event that will reach Brazilian Nikkei on the other side of the globe. Those who can help us with anything, those who can liven up, are welcome!

We would like to thank you for your continued prosperity.
110 years after the first immigrant ship "Kasato Maru" to Brazil in South America arrived at the port of Santos, Brazil from Kobe with 781 people, many Japanese people moved to Brazil from the port of Yokohama, and now the Japanese society is 190. There are 10,000 people. Many Nikkei people feel that Yokohama is their second home, and in November 2015, Yokohama City signed a memorandum of understanding with the city of Santos, Brazil's largest port city.

Now, to celebrate the 110th anniversary of immigration from Yokohama to Brazil at the citizen level, we would like to strengthen our ties with 1.9 million Nikkei, and we are preparing the following commemorative event.
Volunteer-based gatherings and activities began to celebrate this memorable 110th anniversary, centered on Yokohama citizens who value ties with Japanese Americans in Brazil and Latin America. In order to let as many citizens as possible know the existence and activities of Japanese Americans including Brazil and their history, the following is held at the JICA Yokohama Center, an international cooperation organization with an overseas migration museum. We are planning to hold a commemorative event, a painting exhibition of immigrant ships, and a photo exhibition in Brazil.
Therefore, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the support of your company, which is active mainly in Yokohama, and we appreciate your cooperation.
